These are guidelines for Extended Council meetings.
Only Delegates are permitted to participate in Extended Council discussion, debate and voting. There is one delegate and one alternate for each chapter. However only one may speak for the chapter.
The Chapter President is the delegate if no one else is so designated in a chapter. The Chapter President may appoint an Acting Delegate at any time.
To receive voting notices and links, a delegate must be registered with Extended Council. Please send any registrations or updates to Eric Johnson.
Why can’t anybody participate in the discussion?
For Council to be effective it must be disciplined. This means that Delegates reflect the wishes of a Chapter, not just individuals. Because Council is supposed to represent Chapters through their delegates. If you want to influence Council you must do so through your delegate, or be appointed a delegate by your Chapter. PTG-L is the alternative site for open discussion.
Voting is done via email links. Voting will be clearly announced by an email to the delegate the includes the link for voting. Voting will be open for a period of time, typically 2 full days. Vote results will be announced as soon as they are tabulated.
Each delegate has an individual record within the voting system. Voting is done by sending each delegate an email that includes a YES and NO button for each item being voted on. The voting system records which button the delegate clicked and enters that choice in the delegates record. These individual votes are then counted.
